Last year Salisbury Lions Club screened 2,645 students for vision, resulting in 417 referrals for vision impairment.

Salisbury Lions Club (SLC) conducts vision screenings for eye abnormalities among pre-k and kindergarten childern in Wicomico County public schools. Over the past year, SBL screened 2,645 students resulting in 417 referrals to eye care specialists. It is estimated that 5% to 10% of pre-school children have visual problems which, left untreated, can negatively impact their visual development and can lead to barriers to learning. The most common neurological vision problem with children is Amblyopia, also known as Lazy Eye.

Waller McCool Trophy

The Salisbury Lions Club has undertaken an effort to recognize and to memorialize two of Wicomico County’s most successful high school coaches, Butch Waller and Barbara McCool.  The citizens of this county have benefitted immeasurably from the devotion of these two leaders to their trade, to their schools, and to their student-athletes - each coach producing hundreds of citizens who then became exemplary role models themselves after graduation.
